Night by Elie Wiesel

The book Night by Elie Wiesel is one of the most impacting books I have ever read.  I feel that since Elie was one of the prisoners in World War II he was able to portray the evils of the concentration camps even further than anyone else might have been able to.
     This book is about a young Jewish boy of only 14 named Eliezer Wiesel whos' family was taken away from their home first from their home to the ghetto, then from the ghetto to a concentration camp.  Nobody believed the rumors about the concentration camps and how horrible they were until they actually saw them.
     Within the first twenty four hours of being at the concentration camp called Auschwitz, Elie realizes the real evil of Adolf Hitler. In that short day, just that first twenty four hours, he is changed from an innocent boy to a responsible man, having seen all the starving children and other prisoners begging them to do what they can to get out of the camp while they still could. 
     Knowing what was really happening during these years, and seeing the war from a prisoners point of view really brings tears to my eyes.  I still do not understand how anything so harsh and soulless could be done to any person, no matter what the crime.  To read this book is to change your whole perspective.

One Lonely Degree by C.K. Kelly Martin

     One Lonely Degree by C.K. Kelly Martin is one of the best books I have ever read.  Throughout the whole book, I was on an emotional rollercoaster.  I cried, I laughed, and I was angry.
      The main character, Finn, has been best friends with Audrey for a long time.  Audrey is the only one that she can tell absolutely everything to and not have to worry about being judged.  But all of this changes when Finns' childhood bestfriend, Jersy, moves back to town.  Not only does Finn fall for him at first, but after a while Audrey does too.  Then one day, Jersy admits he likes Audrey back.  But after getting caught doing some not so nice stuff by her parents, Audrey is shipped off to her cousins house for the summer, both Jersy and Finn are left with nobody to hang with but eachother.  What happens with this summer is anyones guess...
     I really enjoyed this book and reccomend it to anybody.
   

Wake by Lisa McMann

     Wake by Lisa McMann is a very intriguing book. I started reading it in the morning one day, and by the end of the day, I was already finished with it.  The whole time I was reading it, I couldnt put it down.  Wake is definetely a very addicting book. 
     Wake is about a poor girl with an uncaring mother who unwillingly is goes into peoples dreams.  This has happened to her ever since she was a small girl, and she doesnt know what makes her do this or how to stop it.  Scared and not knowing what to do, she doesnt tell anybody about it, not even her best friend, Carrie.  At first this tactic works perfectly well but after a little while, when she starts entering one boys dreams who seems to notice that something is up, things start to fall apart for her.
     I would definetely reccomend this book to anyone who likes a good read.  Even if it is a short book, McMann taught me quite a few lessons as well as entertained me while it lasted.  I cannot wait to get my hands on the second book!

Spice

     I have a dog and her name is Spice. She is a miniature dachshund, and even being a miniature she is small because shes the runt of the litter.  She is now like three years old and she used to have a twin sister, but she ran away a couple years ago. 
     Spice is now a spoiled little dog who gets her way more often then now.  She is very cute and  she uses that against me whenever I am mad at her.  Just a few things that make me mad are when she tries to burrow in the seats, which tears them up, and whenever she gets mad at me and she tries to scratch my face off because she wants attention.  But whenever I try to punish her, she just gives me that puppy dog face with her big brown eyes and I just give up because I know that I cant do it anyways.
     As before mentioned, Spice is quite small for a miniature dachsund.  She is black with tan on her face and her feet.  She has brown eyes, and is just about the most unattentive and preppy dog I have ever met.  She is definitely a dog that likes alot of attention, but i wouldnt change her for nothin.

Spice

The Use of Computers in Class

Argument:  The Use of Computers in the Classroom.
Assertion/Claim:  Computers should not be relied upon in the classroom.
Evidence:

• Students go beyond the boundaries of what they need in school.
• Technology is expensive and the money spent for all these computers should be used somewhere else.
• Training teachers and students to use the computers is not always easy, and is expensive and time consuming.
• The internet is not always reliable, so if the internet crashes then the lesson plans for the day could be ruined.

Commentary:  Even though most of the internet is censored at school, many kids know that there are certain websites that you can go to so that you can get to unsafe websites, such as Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, and Twitter.
